Honors Physics is intended for motivated, well-prepared students, with a strong interest in physics. Honors Physics students should also have a good mathematics background. For Physics 9HB, students should have completed Math 21B and be taking Math 21C in winter 2003. (Of course, having more math than that is OK too.) If you took Physics 9HA, and your grade was a C+ or below, it is probably not a good idea for you to stay in the Honors Physics sequence. You are advised to switch to the regular sequence, Physics 9. Note that since 9A and 9HA cover similar material, after 9HA, it is possible to switch and do 9BCD. However, after that is is quite difficult. The topics in 9BCD and 9HBCDE are covered in different orders and split between quarters. If you are wondering whether you should take Physics 9HB or 9B, please discuss it with me, and we will try to choose the course that is best for you.
