Honors Physics is intended for motivated, well-prepared students, with a strong interest in physics. Honors Physics students should also have a good mathematics background. For Physics 9HB, students should have completed Math 21B and be taking Math 21C in winter 2004. (Of course, having more math than that is OK too.) If you took Physics 9HA, and your grade was a C- or below, it is probably not a good idea for you to stay in the Honors Physics sequence. You are advised to switch to the regular sequence, Physics 9. If your grade in 9HA was C or C+, you should reconsider your options. Is Honors Physics the best choice for you? Could you have done better in 9HA? What improvements in your learning strategies might bring you up to your full potential? Note that since 9A and 9HA cover similar material, after 9HA, it is possible to switch and do 9BCD. However later in the sequence, it is quite difficult to switch. The topics in 9BCD and 9HBCDE are covered in different orders and split between quarters. If you are wondering whether you should take Physics 9HB or 9B, please discuss it with me, and we will try to choose the course that is best for you.
